Gov. Isaac Stevens Auxiliary No. 1

The Auxiliary to Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is the female counterpart to the SUVCW.  The women of the Auxiliary strive to keep alive the memories of our ancestors and their sacrifices for the maintenance of the Union; to aid in caring for helpless and disabled Veterans; to properly observe Memorial Day.  You can learn more about the mission of the ASUVCW at our national website at www.asuvcw.org.


Gov. Isaac Stevens Auxiliary No. 1

With a date of rank of April 22, 2014, this auxiliary serves the states of Washington and Alaska.  The Gov. Isaac Stevens Auxiliary No. 1 is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization.

Our auxiliary is named in honor of Isaac Ingalls Stevens, Washington Territory’s first Governor and major general, who was killed in action rallying his former regiment, the 79th New York Infantry at the Battle of Chantilly, Virginia, September 1, 1862.  To learn more about our auxiliary namesake click here.

The current President of Gov. Isaac Stevens Auxiliary No. 1 is Tricia Bures, PDP of Olympia, WA.  For a membership application and further details, please contact her at aux1pres@suvpnw.org.

Membership in the Auxiliary is open to any wife, sister, daughter, legally adopted daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter and so forth, niece and grandniece and so forth, age 12 and over, of a deceased or honorably discharged Soldier, Sailor or Marine who served in the Union Army, Navy or Coast Guard (including Revenue Cutter Service) during the Civil War of 1861 to 1865.  Also the wife, widow, mother or legally adopted daughter of a member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, with lineage, in good standing. Junior Members are ages 6 to 11 years old who meet any of these requirements. Those ladies who do not qualify under these requirements are invited to join as Associates.
