The event will take place at Riverton Crest Cemetery. Comrade Morford was a member of Company K, 55th Illinois Infantry, American Civil War, and for his actions as a member of the “volunteer storming party” on 22 May 1863 at Vicksburg, Mississippi was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor by a grateful nation. Comrade Morford’s grave was marked with an MOH marker some years ago, but due to the death of our then-Commander, Ken Richmond, the ceremony of dedication was not held. It is our honor to rectify that oversight.
