Gen. John W. Sprague Camp No. 4 of Tacoma, WA

Gen. John W. Sprague Camp solemnly recognizes the passing of Brother Greggory Morris Stewart, Jr., on 14 April 2026 at the age of 51.  Brother Stewart was a 3rd great-grandson of Private William Napier of Company K, 1st Indiana Heavy Artillery.


Bylaws and Camp Orders

With a date of rank of January 7, 2024, this camp serves the 10 counties of Southwestern Washington: Clark, Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, Pierce, Skamania, Thurston, & Wahkiakum.  The Original Gen John W. Sprague Camp No. 4, Sons of Veterans of the United States of America (today Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War) was chartered on February 15, 1890 in Tacoma, Washington.

Gen. John W. Sprague Camp is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Our camp is named in honor of John Wilson Sprague, Medal of Honor recipient, first Mayor of Tacoma, and brigadier general.  To learn more about our camp namesake, click here.
